What to expect at the consulate interview? K-1
If anyone could give me any tips, or info on what I should expect at my
consulate interview (I'm in the UK & applied for K1 visa for the US), I'd
greatly appreciate any help. The agency I'm applying for my visa through
said it'd give some advice on the consulate interview but I suspect they
won't until it's closer to the time. As of right now I have absolutely no
idea what to expect, is it likely that they will be helpful or should I
expect an interrogation fromawkward people Like I've encountered at
immigration at the airports every time I've visited the US?
thanks for any info!

What do you mean by "the agency I'm applying for my visa through"?

I suggest reading the 'K1 interviews' section of the following web page. It has quite a large section devoted to UK interview experiences and therefor should give you a good idea of what to expect

And that was it. He said it might have taken all of 5 minutes. If you have your paperwork in order, and meet all of the requirements (i.e. the I-134) you have nothing to worry about.
Good luck!

Where is the consulate?
If you read the messages here you will learn that most of the time at
the consulate is spent waiting. The interview is nothing to worry about,
really. In our case we went to the window and turned in our paperwork.
They gave some of it back to us. That took about 5 minutes. We waited
again to be called to the window. This time they asked for an original
document. I told the lady the copy was all we had. That took another 5
minutes. I did notice that the forms were stamped "approved". The lady
told us to have a seat and wait for an "officer" to give us the visa.
When we finally made it to the window with the officer she asked a few
questions. They were just general questions about our relationship.
There were no trick questions. It was more like a friendly conversation
rather than an interview. That took about 10 minutes. So, we were at the
consulate in Paris for 2 hours and spent about 20 minutes being
"interviewed".
It is normal to worry about all this, but you will learn that if all
your i's are dotted and your t's crossed everything will be fine. As
hard as it is to do you simply must sit back and wait. That is the
hardest part of the entire process, IMO.

Thanks for the replies, sounds a lot less bad than I've been expecting. The
times I've visited the US the immigration people/passport control have been
pretty rude and almost interrogating, I know they've got to be that way to
some extent to try and catch people who plan to stay as illegals, but I was
just dreading that the consular interview would be like an hours
interrogation with those kinda questions.
thanks for the reassurance

Actually...THEY DON"T HAVE TO BE THAT WAY. But they are and get away with it for the most part. Be prepared for it and get over it! Good luck!!!
