Default Waiver of ineligibility - wait times

Hi,

My husband had an interview at the London embassy in January for a B2 tourist visa as he cannot travel under the VWP system due to a past conviction 15 yrs ago. He was told at the interview it could take up to 90days to process.

I was wondering if anyone has had similar experiences and if there was any chance it could come back sooner as we have a holiday booked for end of March 2010. Deciding wether or not to cancel it.

Many thanks to any replies.

You have 2 issues:

Will they grant him a waiver
How long it will take

My call would depend on the cancellation terms.

+1. If you can do it without taking too much of a hit, I'd cancel it.

Too many imponderables to guess at a date when they might give you a decisions, and just one month isn't very long.

If there is no difference in the consequences of cancellation I'd wait as long as possible, even though I guess the odds are against you making it on time.

Whether it be a good or bad idea, that's what I would do if I have already made the commitment.

As said, don't get your hopes up though.

Thanks for reply, I think we will give it 1 more week before cancelling. We will just have to wait and see if he gets a visa before planning a holiday.
