I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas.

Just thought I'd pop back to say that everyone who told me I was worrying to much were right!

Got to Atlanta, and there was absolutely no one in our immigration area at all. I got a lovely young man, who asked me:

Why I was there (Visiting Fiancé & family)
How long for? (2 weeks)
How much money?
Did my two lip piercings hurt? (I wasn't expecting this but he was genuinely interested and we had a laugh)

Then he sent me on my way wishing me a Merry Christmas, and I sighed a HUGE sigh of relief! Hehe.

Anyway, thanks for everyone who told me it would all be okay - next time I come over here I should hopefully have my fiancée visa in hand!

Excellent, how encouraging I think we lose sight of the fact that unexceptional, ordinary cases are the majority of the cases and that we really hear about the exceptions more than the run-of-the-mill situations. Best of luck to you and yours

Great news! But the mention of lip piercing reminded me that TATTOOS have been known to raise questions at immigration. Just putting it out there.

That's interesting to know - with the amount of tattooed people around today, you'd've thought this wouldn't occur, but I guess that there are some people with preconceptions about tattooed people. My fiancé is covered in them, but he can hide them by wearing jeans and a jacket so doesn't have any issues.

Luckily, I don't think I come across as your standard 'pierced person' so it's never caused me issues. I guess some stereotypes don't go away though.

Prison Tats or gang related Tattoos maybe, but i doubt normal tattoos will raise issues. I have never had any issues with my tattoos, and i do not attempt to hide them.

I wonder if anyone ever got secondary questioning or denied entry for their cute little dolphin tattoo on their shoulder :P
