Why? The topic is relevant, the poster is asking for an update on the information, and it's good to see that the poster has done some research before asking.

One danger of old threads that haven't been renewed is that reader's get out of date information and aren't as smart as this poster to ask if the information is still accurate.

Personally, I prefer it because I don't realize having read a page (like I did today) that this thread is 10 months old.

But if that's the prevailing view, so be it.

I don't know what the prevailing view is, but you and I now know each other's views.

Yeah, I often tell people "do a search", and one way of proving you've done the homework is to append to an existing relevant thread. The problem is, immigration law and practice often move faster than the speed of forum, and old information is often obsolete. So a new thread prevents obsolete information from being pulled forward, even though doing the search in the first place is essential to understanding the process in general.

But pulling an old thread forward will get any obsolete information the thread contains corrected.

There are pros and cons to either approach.

You understand incorrectly. The vaccine is available - but it has to be special ordered... so, knowing this, US immigration routinely waives that requirement for those applying from the UK.
