Hi all. Been trying to lay the $165 immigrant visa fee (required to process UKC hubby's Green Card) to USCIS all weekend, but the website says it's down for maintenance. The instructions from our courier package say hubby has to pay before he departs for the U.S. But how can we do this if the site is down -- and has been for 2 days? We leave for the U.S. tomorrow. Any assistance or advice is much appreciated.

That's what it says, but it's not actually true. The $165 fee is to create and process the actual physical card - and he won't receive it anyway until he's actually in the US. You can pay then. Until you pay, he won't get the physical card, but the endorsement he gets in his passport at the POE acts as a valid green card for 1 year.

IOW, don't worry about it right now.
