Hi,
Im hoping for a bit of advice / clarification regarding the documents required for a visa interview at the US embassy in London.
The website list all the documents you require, however im unclear as to whether I need a police certificate just for myself (UK citizen) or for my wife (US Citizen) as well? Im assuming its just for me as she isnt the applicant?
Also, the website states that a birth certificate is required for yourself, your spouse etc, again does my wife need to supply her birth certificate?
Finally, documents regarding establishing domicile. We both live in the UK, and dont have a US address except her dads house, however we have the following the show intent to establish domicile:
- wifes US tax returns
- wifes US bank account
- Job offer letter for me (signed and accepted, job is to start as soon as I get the visa and move to the US)
- Evidence of my wife applying for jobs in the US (Application forms / letters etc)
- Correspondance with shipping companies and US estate agents
- Draft letter to terminate employment for us both in UK
- Draft letter to give notice of leaving our rented house in UK
Is this likely to be enough to prove that we intent to establish domicile in the US? Are there any other things we can provide that would help?
Thanks for any help!
Dave

Ok, thanks for the advice, hopefully that is enough to convince them we are going to establish domicile as I cant think of anything else to provide!

Hi Dave,
I was living in London with my USC wife and went through the DCF CR-1 process last year, surviving on the kind help and guidance of the folks on this forum. In turn, I wrote up my whole journey with dates, documents, costs and links for others in the same situation -- including a comprehensive list of all the documentation I brought to the visa interview.
You can view the whole write-up at the link below, and ask as many questions on there as you like.
.: MY "DCF" CR-1 JOURNEY // STORY & DOCUMENTS & LINKS :.
I know that each situation is different, but take what's pertinent and don't worry about the rest.
Hope it helps,
Rich.
