Default us citizen husband, canadian citizen wife

Hello again comrades. I have a friend who is a US citizen and he's planning to get married to a Canadian citizen. She plans to move to the US after marriage. He wants to know what she'll need to do to start working in the US? Does she have to go thru the whole greencard/citizenship process or are Canadian citizens treated differently? Thanks!

She needs to know what to do to LIVE and/or WORK in the United States. She can't do either without authorization from the U.S. government.

He should look into a K-1 fiance visa. Canadians have no special treatment when it comes to immigrating.

She has to go through the whole green card process to live in the U.S.

Tell your friend to get in contact with a GOOD immigration lawyer. That way
you get the real goods from someone who is working for him, and who is
familiar with all the little niggly details involved in your friend's and
future wife's situation. She may be able to get a visa quickly because of
advanced degree(s), etc, etc. OTOH,......

Canadians can visit the USA (for a certain period of time) without a visa,
but that does not mean that we can immigrate and work in the USA without
one.

I don't see why someone would throw money at a lawyer for no reason. Navigating the K-1 process isn't that difficult and lawyers are expensive. I'd recommend lawyers for people who have immigration violations that they have to overcome to receive an immigration benefit. If someone is clean, there's no reason they can't file these papers themselves. They have to be willing to do the research themselves though.
