Update on DCF from Madrid
Dear All,
Thought I would update everyone on our situtation:
Filed I 130 petition Aug 23rd
Received approval Sept 9th
Today Appointments set: Medical Sept 20th, Visa Interview Sept 27th
Looks like we'll be moving to Chicago in October, anyone from that area??
Also, it may seem like this was speedy and we are still not out of the woods yet, however, we came to Spain from France, with my husband's company, and it took them 1 YEAR to get his working papers in order!! I still haven't received my resident card here in Spain, and luckily the Consulate took a signed and stamped document saying I was so that I could begin the process in August.
I say this because I see these long timelines, and ours in order for us to DCF (requiring me, the USC to be a resident), was long too. Does anyone get the impression the process is like water droplets slowly drip, drip, dripping into a water pail?
Best & will post on this after interview to tell experience etc.

As for October in Chicago... you'll be just in time to start wearing heavy coats, scarves, mittens and hearing the words "wind chill factor" and "bitter cold" a month later. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Re: Update on DCF from Madrid
I absolutely agree with you. I think it is dreadful how long it takes when having to go through the process through the US service centers.
When I got my resident visa in France it took one month from start to finish. You simply go to the local police station (no fiancé visas, only as a tourist) give them your documents, do a medical exam and a month later you pick up your 10 year resident card.
But concerning the US, I'm truly baffled why it should take so long. Any immigrant visa attached to a USC should be expedited quickly.....after all you're paying for these services out of your taxes in addition to paying the fees that accompany the application.
Does anyone know why? Or is this one of our nation's best kept secrets.

what you have posted really sounds nice.
As I had posted previously, my (now) husband and I were planning to DCF.
We had gotten married in Niagara Falls last October 13. Autumn in NY (OH; PA and NY too as we took a long drive) was fantastic. I had come armed with all sort of documents to prove that I would return to spain and had made provisions for my husband to join me but they didnt ask for it. I said i was there to bring him back with me, no questions asked, the official even returned my residency card back to me without looking at it. So I covered my a** and they cant say i had misrepresented or lied about my being in the states to get married.
As we here in spain know, residency permits are such a pain to get. The signed and stamped document means we can start our paperwork sooner. Thanks for this important information.
Hubby says he will go to the embassy on Tuesday to "officially" startthe process.
Are you still in Madrid by chance?
