Default Update on consular processing London

Here's how things are going for us. I've included the whole of the I-130
timeline to show how long it's taken to get this far. This may be of use to
other who are follwoing the same path. I'm a little surprised at the short
list of documents they say I have to produce in London, but maybe the list
will grow longer when London contacts me.

1. 05/05/03 - Kathy mailed I-130 to TSC

2. 08/05/03 - TSC received I-130

3. 09/05/03 - TSC mailed NOA1.

4. 16/05/03 - Kathy received NOA1 from TSC. Taking 900 to 999 days to
process this kind of case.

5. 08/07/04 - Bad News (Or so I thought) - I-130 transferred to
Nebraska Service Center.

6. 02/09/04 - Good News! - Email notification from Nebraska - I-130 is
approved.

7. 07/09/04 - Received I-130 NOA2 from Nebraska

8. 22/10/04 - Received DS-3032 and $65 bill for I-864 from NVC. Bill
must be paid before they process 1-864.

9. 23/10/04 - Mailed check for I-864 $65 to NVC. Wrote letter advising
them I was now residing in Georgia and wished to have my interview at the
London Embassy visa department..

10. 23/11/04 - Received $335 bill for processing spousal visa form DS-230
from NVC. Bill needs to be paid before they process the form.

11. 24/11/04 - Mailed cashier's check for $335 to NVC

12. 20/12/04 - Received form DS-230 plus instructions from NVC. I need to
complete it and return it together with a barcode sheet and a photocopy of
the biographical page from my passport. Also included in the package is a
list of the items I need to get together to take to the interview in London.
These are:

________________________________

1. Birth certificates

2. Police certificates

3. Deportation papers

4. Court and prison records

5. Military records

6. Marriage certificates

7. Termination of prior marriages

8. Translations.

Can you update us on your case please, I am also going through consular process at the London Office - starting from this month.

Any idea, historically, how long the whole process takes?

Thanks

The general concensus of opinion is that it takes approximately 6 months
from the time the NVC takes over the I-130 to the date of your interview in
London. There don't appear to be too many instances of people who have taken
this route writing down their experiences, so we don't have many reports to
refer to. Cindyabs, who is presently going through this process too, sent me
two links to helpful sites. Maybe they'll help you too.

Hi there

We are at exactly the same stage as you at the moment. We have the DS-230 completed and about to send back to the NVC. We are waiting for my son to return from UK to sign his form then we are sending mine and his back together.

My guess is the next stage will be for them to forward the file to London and then they set an appointment for interview at the Embassy? We were hoping it would have been finished by now as my son had his trip to UK arranged and it would save us an airfare if he could have had his interview now, but it was not to be!! Ah well. Keep us updated if you get there before us! And Good Luck!

Where is CindyAbs? She and her husband are doing the same? Hey Cindy, where are you????

From what I've read while researching CP, I think that it takes about 6
weeks for the NVC to process the DS-230 and send it to the London Embassy.
The Embassy then takes a couple of weeks to make first contact with you. I'm
hoping that our appointment falls in the middle of March or later, our 2nd
anniversary is on the 3rd of March and I'd like it to be after that so I get
the ten year GC to come home to. I'll let you know what happens next, when I
know :) Please return the favour if anything happens your end.

Hi again Alfie

We are also hoping for sometime in March around the spring break time as my son is in college and we don't want to take him out unless we have to. The US embassy were very accomodating with the interview date when my son went for his K4 visa. Hopefully they will be able to work with us this time again. Once they have made contact with you, try e mailing them to see if they could work with you for the interview to be after March 3rd. It's always worth a try! Thanks for the time line info it helps a lot and I will let you know how things go for us.
