I read you can stay up to 6 months on a b2 visa , I'm assuming this
must mean with an extension ?

Also is there any way you can speed up thr process of b2 extension , I
have about 9 days left and I want to extend my stay for a month so I
can complete medical treatment.

B-2 visa holders are **normally** admitted for a minimum of 6 months initial
stay.

Usually imigration officers let people with visa stay 6 months. Before the expiration day you must leave. Unless for instant you file for the extention. I never heard about any extra fast process and usually it takes 2-3 months. I've been waiting over 4 months!!! You must filed for the extention before your date on I-94!!!! As long as the application is in process you are OK to stay untill the day you are asking for comes.

Why? Aren't they often 6 month any more? (How long you can stay is
constrained by your visa type but determined by what the officer at
the POE wrote on your I-94 - they may write something shorter than
the 6 months I thought B-2s could offer.)

You can stay on B-2 status while the I-539 extension application is
processing, so a slow process might be in your favour if they deny it.
IIRC they do like you to have good reasons if you're filing less than
45 days before you're due to leave, though - the instructions give the
details.

I applied to have my stay extended, but by the time it was processed, it had been longer than my initial date I asked for, which was another six month.

No, this is not a joke

I think I may have lost my passport .

Obviously i will need to get this sorted and get temp one or something
, perhaps I should just talk to them ( uk embassay ) to see what they
can do in regards to my situation .

Argh. Someone I know dropped his over the side of the Peace Bridge by
mistake when between the US and Canada. That was fun to sort out.

It won't be the first time they've talked to someone in your

I *think* it's technically permitted, if frowned upon, for UK citizens
to enter the UK without a passport (!), but I doubt any airline would
let you board so it's a moot point. (Of course, they hold you while
checking into your status.)

If you no longer have your I-94 I suppose it's hard to file for an
extension. I don't know what to suggest about that, but if you do get
to leave the US without an I-94 then do make sure you get good proof
of having left the US when you did in case, at some later date, they
think you overstayed. (I don't know what the best ways are of showing
that.)
