Default Unemployment compensation when I-485 pending

Good day!

If a person on H1B has his I-140 approved in "EB-1 Outstanding Researcher"
category, has I-485 filed about 2 months back, and has received EAD,
completed finger printing and then looses his job.

1. Will his presence in US be legal and GC application continue if there is
no job?
2. Can the GC application be continued if there is a similar job at another
company?
3. Is it safe to apply for unemployment compensation?

Thanks.
