If I can take a chance on a date and save more then 70% then it's worth the risk? I can also move the flights if I need to so it's not a huge deal. .....
Can you just "move the flights"? Honestly, I don't know how Norwegian operates, but IME the cheapest bargain basement flights come with punitive restrictions, making them nonrefundable and unchangeable.

I can see where you're coming from, as the flights for when DH's visa should be ready are looking exorbitant. If you can change the dates for a small charge that's not more than you'd pay if you waited to book, then I can see the merit in booking your latter dates and hoping. Don't forget it will take some time to wrap up your affairs in the UK!

Luckily Aless02 my affairs are pretty non existent lol.. I'm transferring with work to our NYC office, my husband doesn't work here as he looks after our daughter and our apartment just needs a month notice. We can leave pretty quick lol..

The fee is small and if we book NOW with an alternative provider flights are already 500+ EACH. So it's worth the risk.

I understand your desire to save a few quid, I am from Yorkshire myself , but your obsession over airline ticket prices is starting to ring alarm bells. Do you have any idea how insanely expensive it is to live in the NYC area?

My husband is from New York so I'm very aware lol.. we also live in the city of London within Canary Wharf and spend a small fortune on our apartment here. So don't worry. I just like a bargain!

My hubby has lived in NYC his whole life it's only the past 2 years he's been here. Rent wise we'll be paying the same as what we pay here just food costs are extortioniate over there compared to good old Tesco. Public transport is a whole lot cheaper I jwonder when the MTA will jump on board the whole Oyster card idea. I'm quite lucky in the sense that I've been living the same kind of lifestyle in terms of cost that it's not so scary when moving to there. My friends in Kent however would have a heart attack at the thought of spending $2500 on a 3 bed apartment as they pay £500 for that back home lol..
