Two I-129F questions...easy ones
Hi everyone,
I have a quick couple of questions regarding the I-129F petition that
I hope some people here could help me with. First, where the form
asks for names of prior husbands/wives do they want to know my prior
wife's married name or maiden name? The divorce decree doesn't list
my prior wife's maiden name, so I wonder if I should put her married
name on the I-129F, as the G-325A asks for her maiden name anyway.
Also, when I received the copy of my divorce decree I was also sent a
copy of the separation agreement as well. Should I include the
separation agreement with the divorce decree when I file the I-129F or
should I just include the divorce decree alone? Any help would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!

I used my ex-wife's maiden name.
I did not submit a copy of any agreement between my ex-wife and myself, just the divorce decree itself, though saying that I have both documents ready for the consulate interview.

When in doubt, send it. You can't give them *too much* info. But you can send them *too little.* Plus, imo (which means nothing ), it shows you're willing. And it's *always* better to bury them in paperwork...

S&V,
Yes, one can give too much info. More than a few people over the years have provided unnecessary info and regretted it, because it was looked at and it told the (then) INS or the DoS something that the provider didn't appreciate the significance of.
Search for and read Folinskyinla's 3 guidelines for answering questions at interviews. All of them are applicable to filling out the paperwork, the third one especially so.
And on a selfish note, while they're digging themselves out from under your pile of paper, they aren't looking a mine.

General rule of mine for all this:

While I understand JEff's point about not including too much, here's what we did.
-Sent in marriage licenses for both prior marriages
-Sent in my divorce decree
-Sent in his decree nisi and decree absolute
The question regarding the former wife's maiden name, etc.....since we had sent in his marriage license, that included his former wife's maiden name, so we wanted to make sure they knew who she was and didn't get confused. On the form we listed her like this:
Jane Smith (nee Johnson)
meaning, her name is Jane Smith and her maiden was Johnson. Hope that helps.
We were approved, btw.
~SG and Mr. Pink
P.S. Names have been changed to protect the innocent..... or not so innocent as the case may be......

I also only sent the divorce decree- they only need proof of divorve/freedom to marry...anything more is immaterial.
Both my K-1 and subsequant I-130/DCF were approved like this.
