Default Are Tax Transcript Acceptable To Ins For Interview?

i have browsed through almost all the posts on the internet but am
still unable to find a definitive answer for the following question:

i have a visa interview in 20 days...i have my 'tax transcripts'
mailed by IRS for the years 2001 and 2002 (only years i had income)
but i DONOT have copies of tax returns (1040)for 2001 and 2002...is
that ok? i have my w-2 for 2001 and 2002.

my interview is in india.

will i have problems if i donot have copies of tax returns but have
tax transcripts...i donot have time to order certified copies of tax
returns now...

should i postpone my interview and order copies of tax returns by
paying $39 for each year...

please give me your suggestions...

regards
rahul

When I filed the I-130 & I-485 for my Chinese wife, I used tax
transcripts mailed by the IRS. So far I have had no problems with that.
She has her AOS interview in December, so that also indicates that they
have accepted them. I intend to provide a tax transcript for last year
taxes at the interview if they request it. I see no problem with using tax
transcripts. I would not pay for certified copies unless they request it
at the interview. I would not postpone the interview.

Rahul,

We did not have any tax returns so we used tax transcripts for all the years
they wanted.

I don't know if they were acceptable because our interview was in Detroit.
Your question then becomes 'Are the folks in the India offfice familiar
enough with tax transcripts and will they accept them?'

Have you tried calling them? If you do not hear them or from others on this
list who have sucessfully used tax transcripts in India, you should do what
you can to get your hands on your tax returns.

Dean.
