Success at JFK for Temp. EAD Stamp
Two questions now that we've received this.
1) So we received our Temp. EAD stamp at the airport, which is now stamped into the
passport. Do we need to go to the local INS office and get some sort of
official card or will the stamp work in getting us a job? We are working on
getting our SS#.
2) We received our stamp on Sept. 1. The stamp expires in 90 days. During this
time, we'll get married, file our AOS, and fill out the I-765 form. What if our
Temp. EAD stamp expries while we're waiting for the 765 to get back to us? Does
this mean we have to stop working?? We know that it can take up to 90 days for
the real EAD to show up in our mailbox.
THANKS!!!!!

Re: Success at JFK for Temp. EAD Stamp
1) stamp is sufficient to get a job
2) yep, it can happen that you would have to quit your job temporarily if they
don`t process your workpermit quick enough after you filed for AOS. which
happened to me. i was without a workpermit for 2 weeks. the funny thing is that
my AOS got delayed for a month because of a screw up on the local INS side, not
through my fault. don`t bother, they don`t care usually whether they screw you
up like that or not.
go file AOS in person and A.S.A.P. if ya can ... they`ll tell ya immediately if
everything is ok if you go in person which will save ya time.
good luck
