Substitute for birth certificate on I-485
Hi Folks
My wife turned her original birth certificate in with other forms in Ruusia..On
the I 485 its says you need one, can I use her Russian passport in place of it.

I do not know anything about Russia and its administration, but I would imagine that it should be possible to get another (certified or not) copy of her birth certificate.

She should not have turned in the original document; she didn't read
the consulate's directions correctly! (they want photocopy, plus
English translation).
"Original documents submitted when not required will remain a part of
the record. If you decided at a later time that you want your original
returned, please file Form G-884 with the office where you submitted
the original document(s)."
In this case, file Form G-884 with the District Office and Service
Center with jurisdiction over the Port of Entry where she arrived in
the U.S.
