Default sponsorship questions

Hi all, I am a brit moving back to the uk with my new canadian wife, I left the uk back in 88 and at that time I was told of a possible warrant for my arrest with regard to an outstanding tax issue, .When I sponsor my new wife for a work visa, will the form do a police check on me, and is this old warrant likely to still be outstanding
thanks
Colin

I am not familiar with the UK's tax law. However I would add this...usually an extensive background check is done and if that is on your record it would probably show up. Here in the US, it is possible to do a background check on yourself; the cost however varies by state. If you can do that in the UK, I would recommend doing that, just so there are no surprises. BTW is there a statute of limitation on tax charges?
