Should I be worried about this????
NG,
I just realized that on our I-129f application, that I put "N/A" in several places instead of "None". Should I worry about receiving an RFE about this? If I did receive an RFE, what would I have to do - simply fill out the forms again and send them in? Should I possibly go ahead and fill out the forms again and send them again (w/our case # info) before getting an RFE, or would that just create some confusion? Anyone have any past experience with this?
Thanks!
Jamie

Hmmmm, interesting that 2 posters (myself and Goldrush) asked similiar questions within 24 hours. But no one as yet has given a decent answer! Hope we can get one!

It was little things like that why we decided to hire a lawyer.. On our forms he wrote none but I am not sure if it will hurt if you write N/A I will keep looking at this to see what others say I hope you get your answers and have no problems..

Re: Should I be worried about this????
People on this NG have posted that they received a RFE for putting N/A versus none, but others have been approved without the RFE for doing the same thing.
It appears that it comes down to the officer processing your particular case from what I can gather. Some will issue an RFE for N/A, and some let it go.
I know it may seem like a ridiculous thing to say but at this point there isn't much you can do about it so dont worry about it. If you get an RFE for that, it will be a simple thing to correct. If you dont get an RFE, you will have spent a lot of time worrying for no reason.

I put N/As in several places on my k-1 application and did not receive an RFE. I was worried about it too, but all the worrying was for nothing.
Good luck.

Well......I am sure it says it's ok to use N/A where applicable and NONE
too, so I filled out my forms with both words ...why are they being so
picky surely they can understand the meaning after all we are not lawyers
and I'm sure a lot people do fill in forms themselves and get approved with
No RFE's !

I got an RFE for putting N/A instead of none where it asks you to list the previous spouses. Just luck of the draw with who looks at your case. If you want you can refill out the I-129f form, but don't send it in. Might as well just wait as you may not get an rfe about it. And it isn't such a bad thing really if you do.

We put N/A's and NONE on our 129F and we breezed through with no RFE's. We used N/A's for almost everything and only put NONE where it said to.
I guess it also depends on the person processing the paperwork.
Good Luck!

I've got to tell you that I think that the whole N/A/None issue is emblematic of the arbitrary nature of portions of this process. That is the manner in which the process flows is reliant upon the SPECIFIC individual who is touching the applications and petitions. There are few published standards or guidelines to follow at the margins. The result is that the process takes on the appearance of being capricious, thereby reducing confidence in the fairness of it.

It's just hit or miss. I can assure you that the USCIS draws a distinction between N/A; meaning not applicable and NONE; meaning NONE. The USCIS beleives all "their" questions are "applicable." For instance, "list all previous spouses." The correct response is NONE if you have none, not N/A which indicates their question is not applicable. I asure you the USCIS feels the question is "applicable." Hope this helps, it's just hit or miss after the fact. Good luck.

Exactly!! Look at how much this NG has anguished over this none N/A nonsense. This is just one of many threads I've read about this very question.

Re: Should I be worried about this????
Arrggggh...so many little rules that they can ding you on. Wish I had found this NG before I sent in the application. I was a total igit and didn't put 'none' anywhere - just used 'N/A'. Ah well, no use crying over spilled milk now. If I get an RFE then I'll deal with it. I assume if they RFE'd for this reason only, it'll be pretty simple and fast to fix. And I soo wish there was a standard that these adjudicators used when processing our cases. That way we could know more about to expect.!
Thanks everyone for all the responses!
