SF and medical
Hi guys,
Where did you go for your medical? We are thinking of having ours redone, and given our Detroit experience, we would prefer to have some "recommendation".
Thanks,
Caroline
PS: I am in the East Bay, so preferably there, but doctors in SF are fine too.

Hi Caro,
I had mine done at the Medical Express facility in Hayward, can't really say anything since I haven't been anywhere else but it's a good place to go.

Caro,
I did it with this doctor. It was painless except for the shots and the x-rays are done in the same building. Also, it was the less expensive doctor and the one where I could get an appt the fastest.

Hi Caro,
So pleased to hear you've finally got your interview date.
I used the Drumm Street Medical Center, 49 Drumm St near Starbucks and they were very quick and efficient. I had an appointment the same day, results of blood work and finished paperwork 24 hours later. I think it cost around $200. Very nice lady doctor but a rather inexperienced nurse.
Good luck

Hi,
Thanks! I hadn't seen your answers before, and I just came back from my medical... I had it done in Walnut Creek after checking the place out yesterday. It was OK. The medical was $100, and then they were adamant on the chest X-ray for $75 [luckily I had one from a couple of months ago from my HMO and they accepted that one] Vaccines were extra [up to $260 if all the shots were required].
I was pretty upset that I had to get the MMR vaccine [I am immune only to the Measles and Rubella but not to the Mumps] Apparently, the guidelines changed since the last exam I had where they did not give me the shot. FYI, I checked on the CDC, and the chart does say that it is required for anybody born after 1956. I could have it done at my healthcare provider, but I tought I might not need it, so I did not.
So, if you need the MMR shot and the vaccines are separate from the price of the medical, I would advise you to have it done beforehand at your healthcare provider, as it would probably be much cheaper.

Yep! I had to get that MMR vaccine too. I guess they just give shots for Mumps in France.

What happens if you already have US health insurance? Does it cover this
medical?

Depending on where you take your medical, vaccines are or are not included in the price they quote you.
