Default Russian born fiancees and namechecks

I wonder if there is somebody who has a Ukrainian, Belorussian fiancee, who was actually born in Russia , and had to go through the Embassy in Warsaw.
I am Russianborn fiancee, although I have been living for many years in Latvia. We were approved with my American fiance on the 21st of February. We are going through Warsaw Embassy for further proccessing, as I live in Latvia now. But we were recently told, that if the fiancee is Russian born, they make double namecheks in DOS in Washington, and these namechecks for fiancee takes rather long time- for several months.
May be someone had gone through these checks and could tell me how long it took for him? Or may be somebody has some information about that?
I would be very thankfull for your reply.

Privyet Nataliya,

Hello. You have same name as my wife. We are also going through
Warsaw, but with I-130. We were married in Ukriane on Feb. 18th. For
anyone with birth, or some time living, in Russia the namecheck process
can take 2-3 months. For some reason, Russian born people are put
through extra checks, and checks are done more thoroughly. I don't know
why.

Poka, Steve

Nataliya,

One more thing I feel obligated to mention. Why are you posting this
question and not your fiance? He should be doing all this 'work' and
information gathering for you (in my honorable opinion). I would 'chalk
this up' as one mark against him if it were me. I wish you very good
luck. I am hoping that my Nataly (she is from Dnepropetrovsk area, 34
years old with a 10 year old son that I adore) will be here by end of
April. We got married in ZAGS office and then next day in church. I've
been there 4 times since November. Before Sept 11th, after you got
approval from INS (which it sounds like you have already), you would
have only about a 6 week wait for interview date.

Again, good luck to you. Steve

Hi, Steve!
Thank you for the information about the issue. I also learned that if I were born in Latvia, it would take less time to check my name. But as I am Russian born it might take longer.
As for the reason why not my fiance but me who is in the chat, I can explain you.
At the time I am chatting whith people in the forum and having advice from them, he is doing his work in the proccess, mostly dealing with the Government. It was him who bothered two Congressmen and one Senator , asking them to bother INS constantly, while we were waiting the approval, and it is eventually helped to speed the process. he is one who writes, phones and e-mails the Government INS and now the Embassy in Warsaw. The reason he is not writing to the Forum is that he likes to deal with everything himself, getting information about everything himself from the State structures, as he suppose you might have all the information needed in State web-sites. I noticed he doesn't like to get advices, if he can manage it himself. But as for me I have a position that I will better ask some people who already had gone through the process and are experienced in it. So, I think it is reasonable. And all the informamtion I get here I give to him.
I know my fiance for more than one year and I think I found a real present from Heaven in his person!

Hi, Brent!
Thank you for the information.
I have a question to you. If you have time I would appreciate your reply very much.
Why it took for so long for you - 8 months?
Did you mean that only checkname took 8 months or all the process together?
Did you really hear that the namechecks are happenning faster now?

Nataliya,

That sounds good! Your guy must be the same as most of us men. We have little joke here that when lost, the man will be the last one to stop and ask for directions!

It is good that you are educating yourself. But you guys could have done this a lot faster if you had gotten married there in Riga and filed directly with the embassy in Warsaw. Did you know about this beforehand?

btw, I was in Riga in 1993 and threw a coin off the bridge over the river so I guess one day I will have to go back. I had a friend who lived on Talivas St. I really liked Riga.

How long you will have to wait for namecheck (because you are Russian born) is really hard to estimate. I have heard 'horror stories' (ozhass!) about people waiting for as long as 6 months, but the average, as I said, seems to be 2 to 4 months.

My email address is [email protected]. Stay in touch and maybe you and my wife can talk when you get here. What state will you be living in? We will be in Ohio.

Why? Maybe she is more of a computer person than he is. I don't see why
you consider this to be a black mark against him.

This newsgroup is useless. Why bother asking questions? No one who has a
factual experience ever replies. It's always theory, conjecture and hear
say. I guess everyone who has been approved doesn't need to visit anymore
so it is left to the people who know the least to put their two cents in.
If you really want to know the average time for FBI name check is, then
email the Warsaw embassy. Don't bother asking the fools in this news group.
All you got for it were insults. Really what difference does it make who
typed the message? What an ass that guy was. Was he trying to hit on her or
what?

This is a copy of a letter I received yesterday from a vice consul at
the embassy regarding how long a namecheck takes - in short, he doesn't
know.

>Regarding the timing of the
interview, the early April time frame is probably a best-case scenario. The
clearance procedures were backed up for quite some time with the new
post-September 11 security requirements, but they have been processed more
efficiently of late. Our regulation that an appointment not be scheduled
prior to the completion of the clearance procedure is based on the
uncertainty of the time-frame involved in the process. Administratively it
is difficult for us to handle a large volume of cases that are pending
completion for lack of clearances; it is also an inconvenience for
applicants to travel from great distances for an interview only to tell them
that they will have to make the trip once again because we do not yet have
their clearances. In the end it is meant to serve the interests of both the
Embassy and our applicants. This newsgroup is useless. Why bother asking questions? No one who has a

Hey, if nothing else folks have the opportunity to vent their frustrations
over dealings with all the mindless bureaucracies.

She shouldn't have to explain this you since you pretty much insulted
her fiance.
You immediately insulted him because she asked the newsgroup a question
and not him.

Mr. Travel,

You know good and well what my opinion of you is and that 'we don't get
along'. Yet you chose to 'butt in' (and I use this expression
metaphorically) with an obvious attempt to provoke me. Go play
somewhere else, is my response to you. I don't 'play' with types like you.

Ouch, that hurt............
It is a public forum, anyone is free to "butt in".
If you want a private conversation, send email.

But seriously, do you not think the following remarks are insulting?
And, it certainly sounds it is ok for you to "butt in".
