Oh yeah CCalgreen, Rockville much closer to me, about 15 minutes drive. Thanks anyway

Well, why they did not process your application on the first time you go? Did they asked you to wait for confirmation from BCIS?

I think I just have to wait until 10 days first before I know my card will be arrived or not, but the lady already keyed in all my data in the computer while I was there this morning.

Oh where do you live? I'm in Gaithersburg!

They told me they had to wait for 10 days to see if I had been entered into the SAVE computer system by the BCIS staff at JFK. So, every day, I rang the office (no-one ever answers the phone at the SSA, so it's better to go there in person) and also the toll-free number to get them to check if I had been input into the database. I was told that verification would take up to 8 weeks because Rockville alone faxes 60-100 requests to Baltimore BCIS office every day, and there are like 15 other SSA offices in Maryland!

They actually told me to expect the card up to 2 weeks after they had issued the number, but in fact it took less than a week.

Hi All,

Not anymore. SSA no longer gives out SSNs over the 800#. You have to
request it from an SSN office in person or by mail.

Take care,

Mike

Ccalgreen,

I live in Silver Spring. The closest BCIS to my house is SSA at Georgia Avenue and Wheaton, I never been to Wheaton but I've been to Georgia Avenue and I don't like the staff there, very unfriendly and too crowded. At that time I need SS# for medical reason, I had all the documents ready but they rejected, so I get tired and wait for my EAD.

Since I picked up my EAD at Baltimore, I straight away went to the nearest SS office there. I was ready to hear about SAVE stuff since I just got my EAD only 30 minutes before that. But surprisingly they accepted my application and keyed the data and said I will receive the card within 10 days.

I was glad that Mike inform me about that place, really nice place and very few ppl around.

By the way, parking fees at Baltimore BCIS office really expensive. It was $10.00 for about 1 1/2 hours. Well, its worth it

I think our AOS interview might be about the same time since your application and mine not that far.

Hi All,

I need some info. Where in Maryland did you have your immigration type
photos made? If anyone knows of a place preferably near Baltimore I
would appreciate it.

Take care,

Mike

Michael -

You can get the photos done just about anywhere - try the photo chains like Ritz Camera or Motophoto. They have a special little camera just for passport type photos.

You can also get them done at CVS but I don't recommend this at all. My husband and I went into CVS and the young woman looked like she knew what she was doing but in the end the photos were wrong - completely unacceptable.

Best of luck!

Default Ritz Camera

Michael -

I found these locations on their website:

2 E. Baltimore Street
Baltimore, MD 21202
Phone: 410-539-7424

37 South Charles Street
Baltimore, MD 21201
Phone: 410-727-0220

Gallery at Harbor Place
200 East Pratt St., Suite 432
Baltimore, MD 21202
Phone: 410-685-0077

There are probably a ton of little mom & pop type photo shops as well, just don't know those as I don't live in Baltimore.

Hi All,

Thanks, but do they do the 3/4 view BCIS type photos? Everyone does
passport photos, but I asked at Costco and they didn't know what I was
talking about.

Take care,

Mike

Michael -

Yes, they do the 3/4 frontal view photos - and from my experience they do quite a bit of them and are quite good at it. This is were we went for the 3/4 frontal view photos after the problems at CVS.

Default Interview

Mine will be 19th November.

Guys, some questions on the interview:-

1. Do we have really to prepared affidavits from 2 ppl that we are married? Coz' I saw some posts here mentioned about bringing the affidavits.

2. In my checklist, its wrriten - AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT, COMPLETED AND NOTARIZED, WITH THE SPONSOR'S FEDERAL INCOME TAX RETURNS FOR THE 3 MOST RECENT YEARS, OR AN EXPLANATION IF FEWER ARE SUBMITTED (if not already filed). My question is, if we already submitted those things together with I485 application, do we have to bring it again to the interview?

Just want to make sure. The only thing make me nervous now just about my birth cert, I have only a NOTARIZED copy from the high court in my country. I missed the original. I already applied for the replacement from the state of my birth, but just in case it delay, I hope I can use my notarized bc copy. By the way, I have enough evidence for my place of birth and my parents name such as school leaving certificate and others.

Thanks guy . Hope to get your response soon.

No I live in Southwest Baltimore County, but I'm only 10 minutes from
downtown Baltimore.
