RFE on day 124 :(

I am numb and speechless. The original timeframe was 60-90 days, and
on day 124 we get an RFE. I feel sick to my stomach. I have a
question...is there anywhere I can call to find the reason for the RFE
or do I have to wait for the notice? I will now start planning an
April trip to Jordan. I need to see my husband. We have been apart for
a long time and now we were just set back 3 more months. I come to
this forum to learn and you all help me feel not alone. Please pray
for us. Inshallah we will be together soon.

Jacque, yes, you have to wait for the hard copy of the RFE. They will tell you exactly what is missing. Chances are it's something simple to correct. I recommend reading cutenurse's posting on last days in Austria as well as checking out tmushens' and Heba's timelines. Both had RFEs and, in cutenurse's case, have gone on to successfully receive her visa, and tmushen's wife is on to her interview in Ankara. This is just a speed-bump not a denial.
FYI, we have a little group of us with spouses/fiances from the Middle East. We call it the Cairo Club. You're welcome to "hang out" with us in the NG.
Cheers,

well I know the feeling but if it makes you feel any better I did not get my RFE till over 200 days ! so things could have been worse...but like your replies have already posted the reasons are usually quite simplistic and there is no way of finding out why other than waiting the 2 weeks (why It takes two weeks to recieve the letter I have no idea).
If you do a search for RFEs on this forum you will find plenty of related info.

First, if you don't know it yet, forget the 60-90 day language. That is absolutely meaningless.
Instead you would use the Service Center reports to determine if your case had likely been given to an officer yet.
Once it gets to an officer, it is at "that" time when a USCIS officer is seeing your case for the first time. Up until this time, the case has been moved through the process/steps by contract workers (who are not authorized or trained to evaluate your submission).
So naturally, since the last step is where it goes to the officer, that is when an RFE will be issued. I know this does not specifically help to know "when" the case will be finalized, but I offer it in the spirit of general information concerning why you received your RFE so late in the process. You got it when you should have gotten it (once the case made it to an officer for evaluation).

Jacque,
You're welcome. Already added you to my contact list. In the meantime, why don't you register here so you can PM folks on the NG.
If you want to follow the Cairo Club exploits, we're swapping stories in the threads on "it's on it's way" and "form response from cairo". You can get to know the rest of "the gang" if you read them and catch up.
Salaam,
P

Are you the same person who's petition had been sent to the wrong service center?

Thankyou for that I often wondered what the process was? so I am yes still waiting for my receipt 5 weeks later, but it does not matter that much then as I know it was recieved my AOS.
I did not realise it took so long to get to the actual officer I was thinking I had no recipt because something was wrong?
And maybe to look on the bright side an RFE could be a blessing in disguise at least you can sort everything out there and then rather then mailing back and forth more info.
Good Luck

Apologies MR UDALL
I think I may of confused you with my post.
Please disregard my message I thought you were saying that whenever you file forms they are looked over regardless of thier content, by contract workers first, then given to an Immigration Official when they have finished with them regardless of District or Service center.
Sorry.

Yes, unfortunatly I thought after we married that if I used an
attorney, the forms would be neater, complete and we had a chance of a
quick approval. The secretary send our K3 to Nebraska even after I
showed her proof it was to go to Chicago. It took 7 months to move the
petition to MSC. Four months in MSC and now a RFE. We married Oct. 1,
2002. The lawyer didn't file for I130 til March 18,2003 and here we
are still waiting for the reason for RFE. One and a half years of
marriage and we really just want to be together and start our life
here together. We are in love and will make it thru this. To everyone
waiting, I hope for good news soon for all of you.

What a nightmare! Do you have any idea what the RFE could be for? Why didn't you just fire your lawyer and do things yourself when she screwed up the first time? You deserve a refund.

We learned of the RFE on March 8 and my lawyer received it March 12.
It was for something simple, MSC did not have a copy of the pending
I130. Copy was sent overnight to MSC. Does anyone know what the
average time is for approval after an RFE? I see some at 3 months and
longer. Is this the norm?
