Default Renewing Passport During DCF Process

Hi All,

Am just starting the DCF process (I am UKC, wife is USC - married for nearly 5 years living in UK) and have a quick question...

We are about to send off the I-130 but have realised that my UK passport is due to expire in 6 months time.... Would it be a problem for me to renew my passport after sending off my I-130 or will it raise issues if the passport that is used at the consulate is different to the photocopied version sent in with the I-130?

So, basically, should I renew my passport before starting or is it unlikely to cause any problems to have a renewed passport at the embassy interview? (BTW, we are hoping to move by Aug/Sep next year)

Many Thanks

Anthony

My gut reaction is "no". This will be a non-issue. However, if you think you'll sleep better at night, then go ahead and renew first! But I really think it's a non-issue.

Hi:

It they ask, what would prevent you from showing both passports?

Thanks for your replies. I hadn't really thought about taking the expired passport to the interview too.... I think I will go ahead and start the process and renew my passport while I'm waiting for the I-130 to be approved.

Cheers again

I agree.. get started. This was one that we did -- renewed the PP before even putting I-130 in. Fortunately it didn't take too long for the renewal but there was no need to do this first.

I changed my passport from my old married name to my new married name after we had filed the I130 (it was filed in the US, not the UK though) and we had no problems at all - new name, picture, passport number the works, and it was never even mentioned.

It's no problem.

I can confirm that I renewed my passport between submission of I-130 and interview in London.

I took the old passport too, but wasn't asked for it.
