Thanks for sharing that.

Was the reestablishment of domicile ever mentioned the second time around? My wife and I are very worried about that, despite the fact we do have a joint sponsor.

You've made 3 posts now... and all you've said so far is that you're concerned about domicile... but you've never once mentioned why! What's the problem? Why are you so concerned?

We're good, but we're not mind readers!

Hi! Thanks for the reply.

My wife is American and we currently live together abroad. We want to spend as little time apart as possible, and we've read that it is possible to establish domicile without actually moving there, but we are still a bit anxious about it becauase it seems hard to find real life stories of people who have done that.

We don't make a lot of money, so her parents in the USA would be joint sponsors, still we want to be quite sure about our chances so we don't spend any unecessary resources.

In summary I'm looking for insight from people who have been successful dealing with similar problems.

Probably because the target is to prove intent to domicile, not actual domicile?

Proving intent to domicile includes anything that shows you are giving up ties in the UK and creating ties in the USA. Examples are: letters of resignation to current employer, job offers or job hunting in the USA, proof of selling or letting your UK residence go, house hunting in the USA, school hunting for the kids, creating banking and financial ties in the USA, quotes for shipping your stuff to the USA, etc.

Keep in mind you may not even be asked for any of this at the interview, so no need to be overly concerned.

Rene

There are lots of folks here who have successfully navigated US immigration and come out alive on the other end of it. As celticgrid points out, your wife doesn't have to prove domicile... she needs to prove only her intent to domicile - and Rene has outlined the ways to do that.

Relax, things will be fine!
