Lightbulb Quick question about fiance visa...

Hi all,

I'm brand spanking new and I have a quick question about the INS(immigration naturalization service).

I am planning on bringing my fiance, from Rio de Janeiro, to be with me in the united states. Here's the comment/question.

First, I have filled out the 'Affadavit of Support' document. But, here's what I need to know, which is very important to me; when my fiance goes through the second interview, the one which will be held by the AOS, will the AOS check my reported income with the IRS in order to make sure that everything is stated truthfully?

Secondly, what are the chances that the AOS or the INS doing a IRS(internal revenue service) background check from the IRS on the Affadavit Of Support document?

Lastly, has anyone else been questioned, by the AOS due to their income not aligning with the income that they reported on their affadavit of support?

Thanks everyone. This is the most important piece of information that I will need!

Thanks,
Moore

You know, you do have to provide copies of your tax returns with the I-864,
which is the Affidavit of Support filed with the I-485. Are you suggesting
that you will provide fraudulent documents?

IRS records are routinely checked by the INS in I-485 cases, *before* the
interview.

Why would you even *think* of lying to the INS? That is about the most
foolish thing you could do in this entire process. If you need to show more
income, you should get a joint sponsor.

Again: own experience.

The INS officer had the whole file in front of him
(excluding the Medical Exam for me, the applicant, because
they lost it). He said it all looked good. I asked him: what
do you really do with those Affidavites? The guy here was
"cool" as you can imagine).
He said, with this (my wife has stocks, wealthy parents,
though we do not do that good), we just do not anything.
Sometimes we check INS-reports etcetera, but only when we
have doubts.

Now remember. THe AOS interview (in my case) was after more
then two years. Lots can happen in the meantime.

Yes, maybe I misinterpreted that when answering, didn't see
yours yet, it is obvious you will have to file the Tax
returns...............It *is* very foolish to fraud with
that. Including income that is not appearing on the AOS.
That probably means: Tax Fraud. Or at least suspicion.
But maybe Moore did not mean to say that?
