Default QUESTION ABOUT PASSPORT.

so you know when you go for your interview? how come they ask some people to come back the same day for their passort (a few hours later) but some have to wait for the post?

Where did you hear that some people go back a few hours later to collect the passport? You might have been reading old posts. They haven't done this for at least a couple of years now. Nowadays, the passport with visa inside is returned by courier within several days after the interview.

What Rene said.

Or, you are reading interview reports for other than immigrant & K visas (but I think all non-imm visas are having namechecks run before issuance now).

e_e,

This is at the same consulate? If so, perhaps early morning interviews allow time for visas to be printed and inserted in the passport by later in the day, whereas late morning or early afternoon interviews do not.

Or, what R and m said.

You can sign up for text messaging for the couriour to text you when your passport will be delivered. Someone must be there to sign for it as well. My husband had a 9 am interview as well on a Thursday. They sent a text for a Saturday delivery which we said no to but they tried to deliver anyway. No one was home and they said that we would have to pay again to redeliver . After speaking with a supervisor and explaining that our engaement party was that day and we gave the name of the person that we spoke with when we called for a Monday delivery they redilivered no charge.

This is why the Consulate emphasizes that travel plans shouldn't be made until you've got your visa (and passport) in hand. With luck you might get it back in time. Otherwise I hope your ticket isn't non-changeable/non-refundable.

yeh like i said before, i havent booked my flight, i just wanna go. that link raised another question. whats all this about tax returns for the i-134? my fiance hasnt sent me anything to do with his taxes just tones of bank things, stuff about his income and another thing about his IRS .. i think thats what its called, id have to go look.
his income is good and his IRS has plenty in it. so i dont know if they need anything to do with tax returns??

IRS stands for Internal Revenue Service - it's the US government's tax department. Unless you are self-sponsoring, your fiance will need to send you either copies of his actual tax returns or IRS transcripts of his tax returns. The IRS transcripts (despite looking quite unofficial) are probably preferred... and they're free!
