Question Question about H4 visa

Hi,

I will be moving to Boston from the UK in August on an H1B visa and understand that my wife and son can get the H4 visa. I've seen that this does not allow her to work, but does anyone know what the possibilies are of enabling her to work?

i.e. is there a process to apply for a work permit?

Does she need to find an employer first?

Any help is much appreciated.

many thanks
Glenn

As an H4, she won't be able to work, she'll have to get her own visa in her own right if she wants to work like her own H1B.

Could always study?

Ok, for the own right part, does that basically mean get a job sorted - h1b sponsor first ?

Thanks

You on an H1B so you should know the drill...she finds a job with someone willing to sponsor her...won't waste time before the quota fills though, not that there'll be a quick start...and if she can't find her own H1B sponsor she can't work and have to find other things to do with her time here...or not come, and work in the UK.

If she's working with a company that has offices in the US she could try for an L1A/B if she meets criteria though.
