Question about getting an extension stamp in passport
Well last week I received my letter granting me a 1 year extension on my
conditional greencard after I filed my I-751. I had to send my passport back
to the Ottawa passport site to get it renewed since it expired earlier this
year. Anyway, do I just go straight to my local BCIS when I get my passport
back or do I have to wait till the date on my card expires then walk into
the office? Sorry if that is a silly question.
Thanks,
M

You can travel using the expired greencard AND the 1yr extension letter.
Some BCIS offices do not give the stamp in the passport - stating that you
don't need it since you can travel with card+extension letter. You can only
try at your local office, offices seem to have different policies, but don't
be surprised if that's what they say.
If your I-751 is not processed by the time the extension (as in the letter)
expires, then you can go to the office to get a passport stamp as BCIS do
not send further extension letters.
