Q: Fiance Visa interview, unemployed sponsor
My fiance will have her interview this week. I am currently laid off telecom
engineer. I have provided the I-394 and bank info showing some reserves. Could this
be a show-stopper?

Unless your reserve is five times the 125% of the poverty guidelines, it will be a show stopper. You have to show that you have an earning capacity of that amount for a family your size plus the fiancee in order to qualify or 5 times that amount in order to be a financial sponsor. Can you round up a co-sponsor quickly?

She got the approval. Apparently my reserves were sufficient. Strangely, she said the
interview in Guongzhou took all of 3 minutes.
