(c) Ineligibility—(1) Prior document still valid. An application for a
reentry permit or refugee travel document shall be denied if the
applicant was previously issued a reentry permit or refugee travel
document which is still valid, unless it was returned to the Service or
it is demonstrated that it was lost

Hello all,

My wife has a valid Advanced parole (who is also on H4 visa)valid until
Jul 06. Since she will be travelling to India from Feb until around
Aug/sep, I want to get her the renewed AP.

Does the above instructions mean that we can get the new AP by
returning the old one (that we never used) back to the USCIS?

Please help interpret this.

The text you quoted only refers to reentry permit or refugee travel
document, not AP.

You would have to apply for the AP, just like you did the first time.

And currently APs are taking 2 to 3 months. Personally I wouldn't buy the ticket back home until I have the AP document in hand.
