I think Dan is just saying it seems USCIS is speeding things up overall, compared to a while back. There's no guarantee that category will speed up, though, so I'd say the safer bet is the 5+ years we all think.

Nope -- it's a long wait! First your number has to come up on the Visa Bulletin list as given, then they have to push the papers around.

Many people will have naturalized (where you don't have to wait for your number) before they ever get that far.
