06/01/03 - Received SSN
06/12/03 - Submitted AOS Packet
06/28/03 - Received AOS Receipts

07/22/03 - Received EAD
08/18/03 - Received Fingerprint Appointment Letter
08/22/03 - Fingerprints Taken
09/19/03 - Received AOS Appointment Letter!
10/14/03 - AOS Interview @ Orlando BCIS - Approved! Granted CR-1 to 10/14/05
-07/14/05 - Eligible to apply for removal of conditions
-10/14/06 - Eligible to apply for citizenship
The day itself...
After preparing all the files, folders, documents, photos etc.. we were still pretty nervous as the interview had come around so quickly we did not have the requested six months worth of bills etc.. we had only moved into our own apartment six weeks ago.
We arrived at Tradeport Drive at 1:50pm - ten minutes before our appointment. We went through security and handed them our aos appointment letter (having left the cellphones in the car!) We sat down in the waiting lobby for 10 minutes and watched the EADs being issued across the room having been there myself in July! One other couple arrived with a small child and a similiar caseload of documentation for their AOS. I would surmise they only process a few AOS cases a day.
At the duly appointed time the door to the adjucations division was opened and out stepped our adjudicator she called our names and we followed her through to her office. Along the way all of the offices were stuffed with paperwork and files overflowing everywhere. We got to her office and she proceeded to swear us in.
She started by verifying our names and address (which had changed) she corrected the forms where required, then she proceeded to ask us a bunch of questions like names of the others family members, birthdates, movies we'd seen etc.. She was prepared to take any paperwork we wished to include in the file and was mostly interested in our insurance paperwork and apartment lease, all the other domestic bills and bank statements she didn't take our prepared copies of.
She asked for both our passports, drivers licenses, social security cards and my ead.. She then informed us that I was approved as a conditional resident and stamped my passport. After which she gave us a paper indicating when we could apply for removal of conditions and warned us that this is the only notice we would receive. She kept my EAD and returned the rest of our identification (including my newly stamped passport) told us to wait about a month to get a new SS card without the conditions on it and said we could also get my drivers license renewed without having to send it away to tallahassee anymore! However it is good for a year so I can wait until my actual card comes through in the mail before I renew my drivers license.
She escorted us to the exit and wished us a good day.. we came out into the sunshine and stared at my watch - in and out in 1/2 hour. We promptly drove to Bennigans on 436 and drank a few mugs of beer and shared a sampler platter to toast this stage in the process being completed and in such record time too! We can now look forward to planning a cruise to celebrate our first year anniversary next May and I would love to get back to visit some family next year! woo hoo!
All our best to those going through Orlando!

Congratulations Dominic and Jamie! We did Orlando back in July and it went
as smoothly as your interview. Was the officer who interviewed you Ms
Yeager?
Now you can relax and breath for 21 months.
Best to you both

Actually we had a Ms Frye, Although we did read up on your AOS interview post the day before to see if we had missed anything ![Smile](https://britishexpats.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
We had our cat adoption papers and everything and the lady wasn't interested in any of it
We spent $500 on that cat too! ![Smile](https://britishexpats.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
The worst of it is over - now we can focus on building a good life and a happy home together

Thanks Kate!
I wish you and Corey the best, I have to say when I was reading wait times on the various sites out there with the two year wait on them I was settling in for the long haul.. Everything just seemed to happen so fast and you can really feel the weight lifted from your shoulders!![Smile](https://britishexpats.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Hey Kate
Take heart. The extra time will give you more time to be prepared. Even
though I had thought I was prepared, it is still kind of heart stopping to
get that letter, and then start sweating about if you have saved enough
stuff...so start collecting it now. I have a box labeled the "INS ADVENTURE"
that I kept all the "stuff" in from the day we got married.
Ms Yeager, the officer who interviewed Dennis and me, was a cat lover, and
the adoption papers for Sophie were the piece de resistance...and Dominic,
Sophie was a $50 "pet rescue" cat from Pet Smart.
)
Best of luck to you all

Thanks, Bonnie, and you too, Dominic!
I know it's like the petition wait all over again (except without the seperation, which helps so much) where people are waiting much much longer than me for an interview, so I should be glad I don't have to wait that long, but I really can't wait to get this interview out of the way so we can have a USCIS break for a while.

Hi Everyone,
I just joined this discussion board. I am truly happy for those who have got their GC. I think I may have a situation here and hope somebody will help me.
I filed AOS thru marriage way back in Dec 2001 in Orlando and got return receipts. I have SSN & EAD. The receipt mentioned that I should be hearing something in Oct 2002. I wrote so many lettters of enquiries and rece'd no response. We moved last year and I filed AR-11 and got acknowledgment from Post Office that they got it. I went to the office in Tradeport and the guy just told me it takes 3 years. At that time I was not shocked as thats about the expected processing time listed on the site.
But now, after reading posts from those who already got their GC from Orlando office, I am really pissed with BCIS.
Does anyone know whats going on here? My patience is running extremely thin. I think I m gonna lose it...
Pls somebody...help me..I have not seen my family for almost 3 yrs

Congrats!!!
Kate, I feel the same way. We waited over a year to get an interview date in Miami. Now after the interview we are still waiting (for almost 10months now). I'm happy for those people who got theirs pretty quick (but can't help it - I envy them).
