Opinions please: K3 vs IR/CR-1 (Philippines)
It seems genereally that most prefer the K3 because of the speed. I like
that fact that the CR-1/IR-1 (what IS the difference??) requires so much
less work and has many benefits upon entry into the US, though I see both
have the very important benefit being able to travel without advanced
parole.
The reason why I put Philippines in the subject is that I heard that
Philippines is a particularly difficult country to get a K-1 visa so my
thought was the K-3 visa gives so many more "failure" points as well (not
dotting the i's, crossing the t's). The CR-1 seems more straightforward and
less prone to problems.
Does the CR-1 take so much longer that the benefits of it are not worth it?
Has anyone decided NOT to go the K-3 route?
I have done a K-1 so I'm familar with that process (thanks for all the help
from this group many years ago) but dread all those extra forms and trips
down to the immigration office.
Thanks,
Joel Embry

Re: Opinions please: K3 vs IR/CR-1 (Philippines)
CR-1 is a conditional residency visa (if you are married for less than 2 years at the point of the interview). CR-1 visas need to be adjusted 3 month before the 2 year Greencard expires.
The IR-1 is for couples who are married for more than 2 years.
Please anyone correct me if I am wrong.
