Hi Everyone!
I read the very helpful responses to the thread about the American and Canadian who are getting married and moving to the US. I am in the same situation--my fiance is in Canada, and we are looking to get married in the next year and live in the US. We want to have the big celebration in Canada, but we are weighing the options between having that celebration be the actual wedding, and then applying for a spousal visa so she can come to the US. (We know there is a lag time between applying and her coming in, but we were also planning on traveling a bit for our honeymoon, so we could apply, travel, and then come back and hopefully the wait before she could join me in the US wouldn't be too long.)
We were also considering doing a fiance visa, having a celebration in Canada (but no official marriage), traveling, and then coming to the US together for a small, but official marriage ceremony.
Any help with timelines or suggestions is most welcome. And there is one question in particular I have not been able to find an answer to. I know that my fiance and I have 90 days to marry each other once she enters the US on a fiance visa. However, I can't find how long we have once the visa is issued for her to enter the US. Does anyone happen to know that?
Thanks for your help.
Jim

I have moved your thread to the appropriate forum. Once the K-1 is approved at the US Consulate in either Montreal or Vancouver your fiancee has 6 months to activate it. You are correct at that point you must marry within 90 days.
You might want to read the FAQ for the K-1 visa found in the root post under my name or at the start of the forum.
