Default O/T Noorah101 & others w/ loved ones in Turkey

Noorah101, I just talked to my mom who told me about the bombs that blew up the HSBC bank building and British consulate killing the consul general. I hope nothing has happened to your fiance! I got quite scared for you after my mom told me about it since your fiance will have his interview at the US embassy soon, no?

I think I can speak for all of us here.

We will pray that all of the lovedones there are safe. And pray for the families of the deceased consul and other people.

Where is this world going to.... my God!

Hey Rene! It's great to hear that Sadegh is okay. When I read about what happened, I immediately thought of everyone on here who may have loved ones there. My heart goes out to everyone in this sad situation. I can't understand what the world is coming to.

Why can't we all just get along?? I know this sounds very cliche, but I'm an idealist at heart and believe that we should all love and respect each other. And it's not like we can even try to kill these crazy people because they'll just become martyrs and pop up again somewhere else (& that's if we can find them)!

Ah well, hopefully all is well with everyone on this board.

One piece of good news in my favor so far is that his interview will be in Ankara, not Istanbul. But if these bombings continue, and Ankara gets hit, I don't know what we'll do :-(

Cross that bridge if we come to it, I guess. Praying it doesn't happen.

Rene,

Why is Turkey such a hot-bed all of a sudden?

Thanks Noorah for your concern. Thank god she is safe as well as your other half. This is what I posted on the other topic:

My wife is also in Turkey. She is far from what happened (Konya) but the scary part is we were in that building bewteen June 20th and the 23rd. We were also in the square where there are thousands of people everyday. I was upposed to go to Turkey between November 2nd to the 15th but I cancelled my trip because I was/am expecting her approval any day now. I have an open ticket just in case for the holidays but the US advised against visting Turkey right now.

I pray this stops. It makes no sense to target anyone but especially Turkey. I remember the day back in June when we were at the US Embassy trying to figure out how to do the I129F. It's scary that these things can happen. I also have my business on Wall Street and witnessed first hand the worst site of my whole life on 9/11/01. I try to forget this stuff but it seems these things keep happening.

Leslie - I haven't a clue!! But I sure wish they'd quit it!!!

tmushen - I'm so glad your wife is safe also. Konya is one of the places I missed on all 3 of my trips to Turkey, but still high on my list to visit. I don't know if they have any meaning in Turkish, but I love the names Anatolia and Konya and even thought of someday naming my kids that (if I ever have any!) :-)
Crazy, eh? :-)

Best Wishes to all,
Rene

I am so glad your fiance and wife are both okay. When I saw it on Cnn I was shocked. My first thoughts were I hope no one from the forum had a loved one there..I will continue you to keep you all in my thoughts and prayers....
