I have a friend from a EU country who has a B1 visa valid until 2010 that allows multiple
entries. Upon entry into the US she was admitted until April 9. Since she would like to
stay until July, she is contemplating going to Tijuana for a weekend (she is staying with
us in the Bay Area) and get readmitted for a few more months (I believe the standard
admission period for B1 is 6 months). Does anybody know anyone who has done that or knows
for sure if that is possible? Thanks a lot!

Hi Max,
THIS SHOULD NOT BE CONSTRUED TO BE LEGAL ADVICE. I AM NOT A LAWYER. I DON'T EVEN PLAY
ONE ON TV!
They probably could do that, but wouldn't it be far easier for them to simply file form
I-539 with the INS Service Center serving their US address to obtain an extension of
their B-2 visa?
Form I-539 can be downloaded at the INS web site,
