Default News on K3s and NVC

I just called the NVC and found few things:

1. All K3 applications go to the NVC before going to the consulate.
2. As soon as the NVC receives it they send it immediately via email
to the conculate.
3. My K3 was approved on Nov 20th and the NVC just received today and
has forwarded it immediately to the consulate.

I thought I posted a link to a website about K3 implementaion yesterday, but the system for some reason "removed" it. So here it is again

http://travel.state.gov/state167548.html

It is the OFFICIAL guide of how the K3 visa is processed with a lot of information about procedures etc. Also it has a good explanation of its relationship to I-130 processing.

I called the NVC this morning and got some different information, of
course . Actually, the guy was very helpful. According to him,
you need to look at the notice of approval to see what was done with
your file. He had heard of some K3's which had bypassed the NVC and
gone directly to the consulate.

My K3 was approved Sept 5, but neither the NVC nor the Montreal
consulate has any record of me. I don't have the NOA#2 with me, so I
don't know what it says. I hope my file hasn't been lost (again!). I
haven't been tracking my K3 closely because my I-130 is with the NVC,
though I think I am looking at a Feb/Mar '03 interview.

Thanks for your SO DETAILED time line. Mine will be sent Montreal since my wife is living in Canada. And hopefully will be a little faster with the mail stuff.

Default How to check status of NVC?

Kindia (or anyone who can help),

I've tried checking at NVC to see if they received my K-3 approval (Missouri approved 11/20/2002). What receipt number do I use to check the status on the phone? Did you use the number that Missouri gave you (MSC#?) I've tried the receipt number that begins with MSC- but the phone system says it does not recognize it.

Thanks

Default Checking K3 Status NVC

Kinda,

To check your K3 status with NVC you will have to get a live person on the phone. You will have to use your MSC number and they will tell you if they have received it. I hear but not sure that another number is assigned when NVC gets it and forwards it to the consulate. I don't know for sure but would like to find out if this is true. My K3 approval was Nov 25. I have heard it takes three to four weeks from MSC to NVC. The live person at NVC tells me that to give it 90 days for it to arrive at NVC. I think tbat is totally unacceptable but we will see. I can't wait for three more months. I will go to my wife and spend the time with her in her country before I wait another three months especially since I have waited five months already with this K3. We have been married since April 2002 and only together a short time. Let me know what you find out.

Best Regards,

Jimmy

Hi Jimmy,
We sail in the same boat. Even I have a K3 approval of 25th November 2002 and am awaiting for the papers to reach the NVC. Will keep the progress posted on this thread itself. Request you to do the same.

My papers would come to Mumbai consulate and understand they schedule an interview after 2 months of receiving the file.

I just hope that you are more fortunate than I am. . .and have lesser waiting period for the interview.

Regards,

Dipty

I use my I-130 number to get me to an operator, then ask the operator about the
K3.

My K3 was approved 12/02, still waiting for it to arrive at NVC. I start wondering if the holiday mail slowdown has anything to do with the delay. Or for those in the east coast, the recent snow storm might have slowed it down a little bit also... just some strange thoughts (never in my life have I cared about the weather in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, but here it goes

BTW, please go to http://www.marriagebasedvisas.org/ to input your K3/I-130 time line, (or even better, your email so people can share info.)

Default Approval Forwarded to "visa-issuing post"

I got a letter in the mail from the NVC with a new case number. The letter stated that our I-129F had been forwarded to Montreal. The letter is dated 12/02/02. I am hoping that my wife will receive the Packet 3 by Christmas. We were told by the NVC to follow-up with the Montreal from now on. They also stated that they e-mail the information to Montreal and nothing is on paper. (Wow INS takes advantage of e-mail!!) I am guessing that it sits at the foreign consulate for a little while.

Timeline
1st NOA - 08/14/2002
2nd NOA - 11/18/2002
NVC Receives Approval - 12/02/2002
Forward to Montreal - 12/04/2002
Receive Letter - 12/07/2002

Default Re: Checking K3 Status NVC

To Jimmy and others:

Here's an update. Called NVC today; they informed me that they received my MSC approval on Dec. 4. They said that, regardless of what the NOA (i-797) says, all approvals go to NVC before consulate. They sent my petition to consulate today (Ciudad Juarez) and told me to wait until I hear from consulate or to call them myself.

K3 Timeline so far...

1st NOA : August 30
2nd NOA: November 20
NVC receipt: December 4
NVC forwarded to Consulate: December 9
-Awaiting NVC letter
-Awaiting news from consulate.
-Will need to file i-212 waiver at consular interview.

I called NVC today and asked them whether the case number changes as
the file is forwarded to the consulate. The person told me that when
inquiring about my case from the foreign consulate, I can use either
the original case # or a new number which he gave me. He also said
it'll take about 2-4 weeks from Dec 10. for the NVC to forward it to
the foreign consulate. So the waiting continues...tick tock....
