Never received my conditional GC
I was away from this board for 2 years and it's nice to find Google
filling in for good old Deja.
I was granted the GC almost 2 years ago. Got a letter from the INS
welcoming me to the US and acknowledging the card should be sent in 3
weeks.
I NEVER GOT IT!
I tried several times to find out what happend and even went
personally to the Laguna Niguel, CA office. The only answer I got is
"we sent it, and until it returns you can't get a replacement". I went
to the Los Angeles office for help (waited 4 hours in line) and the
only thing they agreed to do was to send a fax to the Laguna Niguel
office and extend the date on the stamp in my passport.
My question is: Since it's time now to apply for a condition removal,
how would the absence of my current GC infulence the petition (it says
I need to send a photocopy of it)???
Thanks for any help.

Hi:
File the I-751 and put in a copy of the PP stamp. If you never got it, you can't provide a copy of the I-551.
There is no magic in the I-551 card. It is not the equivalent of permanent residence status -- it is just evidence of it.
At the rate you are going -- you will file the I-751, a year later an N-400 naturalization application and become a bloody citizen without having ever seen an I-551.
I've actually have had this happen with several clients.

DId you dile the form for getting it replaced?
They get lost in the mail quite a bit. We had one lost one and one
incorrect one.
Both were resent by CSC after the form was filed. (no money had to be
paid )

No, I didn't even know or advised or offered to file for a
replacement. I'm only concerned about any "mis-happs" when I file for
a condition removal. By the way, any tips when filing by myself (not
through a lawyer)?

Re: Never received my conditional GC
In your filing of the I-751, send a statement about why you don't have
the card.
Send a copy of your passport stamp.
BTW, I-90 is the form for a lost or never received card
