Default Need help About K3 Visa

Hi, I got merried on Oktober 4th, to an american here in germany and applied
imidetly for the K3 visa, they told me it will take up to 3 month now its over
4 month. does any body know how long at will take?
When I will get the approve does someone know what I have to bring to the
Consulate and will I have a interview over there, and what kind of questions
they will ask.
I think the INS is very slow, they made this Visa to be able to be wit your
spouse, but i hope i will not me a granny till i see him again.

Default k3-timeline

My timeline is in my signature line. I did not hire an attorney, my husband and I did all the paperwork ourselves. I heard that an attorney could speed things up. I do not have proof of that though. The best thing you could do is establish an email relationship with someone at the embassy you will deal with. I received these instructions from my contact at the embassy in Nicosia, Cyprus. The embassy you deal with may want something different. At least this is a start:---Good Luck

AMERICAN EMBASSY
NICOSIA, CYPRUS

Visa instructions for K-3 / K-4 Visa

This office has received a petition entitling you to K-3 or K-4 Visa. To prepare for your interview appointment with a consular officer, please read and follow carefully the instructions below.

K-3 / K-4 CHECK LIST

Obtain the following documents in this checklist, which pertain to you. All documents not in English must be accompanied by a certified English translation. Do NOT send them to this office.

1. PASSPORT A passport must be valid for travel to the United States and must have at least six months validity beyond the issuance date of the visa.

2. POLICE CERTIFICATE Each visa applicant aged 16 years or over is required to submit a police certificate from the police authorities of each locality of the country of the applicant’s nationality or current residence where the applicant has resided for at least six months since attaining the age of sixteen. Police certificates are also required from all other countries where the applicant has resided for at least one year. A Police certificate must also be obtained from the police authorities of any place where the applicant has been arrested for any reason, regardless of how long he or she lived there. Police certificates must cover the entire period of the applicant’s residence in any area. A certificate issued by the police authorities where you now reside must be of recent date when presented to the consular officer.

3. COURT AND PRISON RECORDS Persons who have been convicted of a crime must obtain a certified copy of each court record and of any prison record, regardless of the fact that they may have benefited subsequently from an amnesty, pardon, or other act of clemency.

you said you applied for the k3 visa. It is the American who does that.
Where are you at in the process? My wife came to America on the K3
visa. It took us 4 months to get it. She is from the Philippines

What stage are you at in the process?

Default Time Depends on when you start counting

Based on some others on the board this was pretty "fast".
Married April 26, 2002
Started with I-130 July 25 2002
I-129 1st NOA from MSC - August 12 2002
I-129 2nd NOA from MSC - November 18 2002
Packet 3 Received in from Montreal - December 7, 2002
Interview in Montreal - December 11, 2002 (We got a Christmas present from the INS person who said if we showed up on Wed. they would process)
POE - Niagara Falls - December 21, 2002

So from 1st 129 NOA it was 4.5 months until she crossed with the k-3
From 1st 130 NOA it was 5 months until she crossed with the k-3

We used a lawyer for some of the filings. I think we just wasted 3K. We filled out all subsequent forms and haven't had issues. But we had no RFE (knock on wood). It did not make things any faster. The best lawyers still have to send paper work to MSC. If you have a complicated case I would recommend seeking counsel.

Good luck.

Charlie did you ever get your k-3?

Since the security checks have changed, it's hard to say what the new
time lines will be.

In case you want to see an example, here's our current time line:
