NetMeeting and Yahoo are great for progressive countries... but the 3rd
world is a little behind. Your lucky to have electricity at all.
Get this...
While in Haiti on my "vacation" I took some snack foods I ended up leaving
my husband a package of Microwave popcorn (hotel didn't have a microwave).
Hubby took it to work and decided to use it here. I had no Idea he had never
experienced Microwave popcorn before. He Yells at me over the a e-mail.
Manna, the package was so skinny now it's very big... Is that normal. It
still cracks me up...

It's awful that for a $20.00 phone card you only get 28 minutes to talk with your partner. It's sad to think this but I beleive that if I were in your shoes, my long distance relationship with my now husband would of never lasted the 3 years that it did. Why is it so expensive, when calls to the Dominican Republic (neighboring country) are so inexpensive compared to Haiti. With a $5.00 calling card you would get about 1hr and a half. Heck I even use $2.00 cards to call for 25 minutes sometimes to DR and Venezuela.

Yahoo messenger has saved us......we use the web cam a lot...but
sometimes we just want to have real conversations, so we end up with
the phone bills anyway...I emailed and faxed my senator....haven't
heard back from them.

Why doesn't INS give US Citizen's priority? I hear the fiance visa is
actually faster. I could've lied and said he is my fiance and we'd
just marry AGAIN here. It doesn't make any sense.

I'm sure If I lived in a "Haiti" popular city that the prices would be
cheaper... for instance Miami or Boston. But I live way up North ... West
Coast side So anything Tropical is expensive I guess... Not all
international calling cards will work for Haiti I learned that out the hard
way... My husband is worth every expense and I"m really not counting them..
just explaining our adventure in Immigration-land. I'm sure when we are old
and wrinkled we'll laugh about this ... .but right now I don't see the
humor.
