Default Moscow K1 interveiw/No packet yet/need help

Our Interveiw is May 13 th. We have not recieved our K1 packet from
Moscow, and we may never recieve it with the Russian mail system. Does
any body know where to get information on, or get the documents that
will be required for Moscow interview?

The Embassy website doesn't mention DoS forms. I emailed and asked what is
needed; they told me Alëna needed to submit a filled out Biographical Form
DS-156 + supplement DS-156K («Application for visa.....»). You can download
these forms at http://www.state.gov/m/a/dir/c4456.htm

Also, from the embassy website:

http://moscow.usembassy.gov/consular/wwwhci4.html

Documentary requirements for the interview:

The Beneficiary must provide:
A valid International Passport with a photocopy of the first page.
An original birth certificate with photocopy and translation into English.
Applicants are required to submit police certificate in all names as well as
all dates of birth that they have used. Police certificate must contain
references to each place (the subject of the Russian Federation) in which
the applicant lives or has lived for more than six months since reaching the
age of 16, regardless of where he/she is officially registered. This
includes localities where applicants have lived during university studies.
If the applicant was on his military service, he should bring the
certificate from the local draft board. If an applicant has lived abroad for
more than one year a police certificate must also be submitted from the
country in which he/she lived. Military records will be accepted only from
local authorities and not from military commissions.
If applicable, evidence of termination of any prior marriage: original,
photocopy and translation into English.
An accompanying child requires a valid passport (or may be included in the
parent's passport), a birth certificate and a medical examination. If a
child is 16 years of age or over, police certificates are required.
Two photos of passport size black and white full face for visa.
Two photos of passport size for medical exam.
There is an application fee of $100 (or the ruble equivalent) per person,
payable at the Embassy on the day of interview. Only U.S. dollars cash or
Russian rubles will be accepted. The bills must be clean and in good
condition. The Embassy cashier reserves the right to reject dirty or
damaged bills. Under no circumstances will credit cards or personal checks
be accepted for payment.
Documents confirming relationship: photos of Petitioner and Beneficiary
together, letters to each other, phone bills, emails....
Results of Medical Examination in sealed envelope.

The Petitioner must provide:

Employment letter with salary information and/or a copy of tax returns (Form
1040) for the last year.

Hi,

Sorry for my clueless. I am confused to the process; perhaps you
gentlemen can clear my head. After 2nd NOA, do you received packet
first or do you get interview date first? From K-1 faq, it says a
foreign fiancee gets packet 3, completes some forms, gathers documents
and returns some forms back to consular. Then interview is scheduled
and the fiancee gets another packet (packet 4).

From reading messages in this group, it appears your fiancee gets her
interview date first and your fiancee receives packet after that. I
assume there is only one packet instead of two. Is this the case?

We got our 2nd NOA on Jan. 21. It has been 2 and 1/2 months now, my
Moscovie fiancee has not received any packet from Embassy. I check
Moscow online interview schedule daily. Our MOS# never shows up. Did
you do anything except waiting to get your interview date?

Any tips/experience appreciated.

-James

I'm not clear on the process either, but this is my understanding:

Upon approval, NOA2, BCIS forwards the case to NVC. NVC holds the file
until security checks are done, then forwards to the Embassy, Moscow for
Alëna and I. NVC gave me our MOS number, but it's a different format than
numbers on the Embassy interview list; I'm not sure what to make of that.
NVC send the package to Moscow when security checks are complete, then
Moscow should send Packet 3 to the fiancé. The interview is scheduled when
fiancé mails back to the Embassy a checklist showing all documents are
ready.

Any resemblance between my understanding and reality is probably accidental.
Your mileage may vary.

Did this change? I thought Moscow sent the forms after the interview
was scheduled.

There's no packet 3 at Moscow. Interview gets scheduled and all paperwork is
sent at the time of interview scheduling.

Ron, mrtravel, Steve, Thanks for your info.

Called the $1.6 Moscow line. The woman told me that they HAD our file
and we had to wait for them to do security check. Who should do the
security check, NVC, DoS or Moscow? If Moscow HAD our file, doesn't it
mean the security check has been done by NVC? She didn't seem to
understand my question.

Ron: MOS# should has 10 digits. First 4 seems to be year. Don't know
what the rest stands for. I got my MOS# from [email protected]. You
may want to clarify yours.

deja,
I believe NOAs before March 1 went to the Consulate for security checks.
March 1 and later go to NVC for security check then on to Consulate.
