Default Montreal Questions...

Hi all! We are about four days from the medical exam and being ready
to mail in the checklist to the Montreal Consulate. This of course,
bring more questions up:

1. Is the Montreal Consulate issuing visas?

2. How will we be notified of his appointment date, ie: phone, email,
smail mail?

Thanks in advance!

Hey there,

I don't know if you're applying for a K1 fiance(e) visa, or a K3 spousal
visa. I'm assuming K1 if you're getting an interview. My knowledge is based
apon the K3 visa, and it's a tad different, but processing times /should/ be
about the same.

1. Yes, definately! The consulate is issuing visas We just got ours
issued on Nov 4, in my hand The total time from mailing the packet 3 (not
counting weekends) to getting the visa in my hands was 10 days I believe
that maybe, if you're going the K1 route, instead of 'getting the visa'
you'd more than likely get an interview date. Earliest possible date, unless
an emergency, is 2 weeks from the time they send you the notice, and up to a
month or more for max, but they seem to be on the ball, and speedy, so you
may get a quick interview date

2. Sometimes, I believe, according to the woman I spoke with (who assumed at
first I was applying for a K1, not the K3) said they may e-mail you first,
notifying you of an appointment (usually done if your interview date is
like, just 2 weeks away, to give you ample time to collect documents, etc
instead of waiting the time for the physical notice to arrive by snail
mail), before sending a physical notice via snail mail. In rare instances,
they may call you.

Well, if you have anymore questions, just ask away :P

Good luck!

-Ev

Yes Montreal is issuing visa and they will notify you of the appointment date by regular mail.

Thanks for all the answers. And sorry, I guess I did leave out that
it is a K1. I am so glad to hear that Montreal is on the ball. I
REALLY want him here for Christmas this year! Think I am crazy for
thinking we'll be done by then???

There is always the possibility that it could happen that quickly. Be sure when you send the checklist back that you put in whatever form it is that your anticipated travel date is 12/??/02. They do try to work with you; not against you.
