Medical examination/I-693 with AOS
Hi,
I filed for AOS on bases of Marriage to a U.S citizen in September
2002 at Newark office.I have already got my EAD and advance parole
papers.According to the receipt provided by INS at the time of filing
The interview should be sometime in August 2003.
Where does I693 or medical come in picture i havent submitted one
neither have ins asked me for one.Is it a requirement of all INS
offices or is just office specific.
so when do i submit I693 if i do submit one. Will INS ask for it or is
is something i have to do by myself.
Thanks
Bobby

When INS (now BCIS) notifies you of your interview appointment, it will
instruct you on getting your medical exam. The doctor will complete the
exam and put the I-693 report in a sealed envelope, which you will bring to
the interview.

Re: Medical examination/I-693 with AOS
Did you come to US on K1 visa? If you did, there is probably no need
to do whole medical again, maybe only the vaccination. This BCIS
website is helpful:http://www.immigration.gov/graphics/i-693faq.htm.
In my case, I did have medical done during k-1 interview, and that was
last June, so my medical was still valid during my AOS interview(April
9th 2003). I did however submit a copy of my vaccination records (from
my k-1 interview) together with my AOS application. Before the AOS
interview I was worried if a new vaccination supplement was required,
so I went to a local(San Jose) BCIS approved doctor and received a new
vaccination record(i693 supplement), all they did was copy the old
vaccination record(k1) onto a new form, had a doctor sign it and
charged $55/=. During the AOS interview, the interviewer did not ask
for medical, nor the supplement. I guess in my case, the $55/= went to
waste, but I guess its better to be extra prepared. My AOS interview
was in San Jose, CA.
If I were you, I'd bring all originals (including medical) only during
the AOS interview. The INS/BCIS lost our one cheque. I'd not post
anything other than copies of originals and forms, unless they
specifically require it.
Hope this is helpful.
