Default Maximum age for K1?

Hi all, I've been on here before but the Canadian forum, I'm a British expat PR in Canada, recently divorced and been with my Anerican boyfriend for just over a year. We're now almost ready to take the next step (when his divorce is final) we we're thinking of the K1 Visa but I'm worried there might be an age limit, I'm 46. Is there a preferred time the authorities like to see for a relationship before applying etc? And what are your thoughts on this Visa, should we go another route?
Thanks in advance for any info or advice you all might have.

There is no age limit.

There is no required time to be in a relationship... only that you have met in person at least once within the 2 years prior to the to filing the I-129F.

Look into the CR-1 spouse visa, it has advantages over the K-1... mainly that you become a US PR with full right to work from Day 1 in the USA.

Thank you, I'll look into that. What are the rights to work on the K1 visa, I also read somewhere that the government prefer you to apply for the K1 as apposed to the spousal visa is that correct??

On K-1 Can work first 90 days, but without an EAD it's pretty much impossible to work for anyone but yourself. After that you're waiting on an EAD applied for as part of adjustment of status. That'll take months.

I've never heard of a preference. I call BS.

My post didn't register. My Canadian husband was 57 when his K-1 was approved 20 years ago.
