Default Marrying a Korean immigrant

I've lurked for awhile but suprisingly didn't find what I was looking
for or just wasn't looking in the right place.

I am an American citizen in the US, and I want to marry a fellow
student who is here on a student vias from Korea. We plan on getting
married oh, maybe September which will about 18 months after we met.
We'll be consulting a lawyer, but any tips on things I should do or
plan for in advance? Questions I'm going to get asked that we'd better
know the answer to. We're in the immigrant-heavy VA area which
recently saw a whole marriage-for-citizenship scam get broken up, (I'm
sure there's more going on than what they found) and we don't want to
raise any alarms from INS. There's shockingly few books that give any
details on this.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

I can't think of anything offhand that would make your case special. Your lawyer can let you know for sure. In general, it's OK to file AOS for your wife from a student visa. It was mentioned on another thread recently that once you file AOS, your wife shouldn't leave the USA without an AP (in other words, don't travel using her student visa anymore).

Best Wishes,
Rene

scrubbedexpat099 is an unknown quantity at this point

A Student Visa is not an Immigrant Visa, so the heading is a bot confusing.

To paraphrase another poster, you do give nearly enough information.

Do searches of posts in this group or join BritishExpats. That site may
have some sort of archive (I don't know, I'm not a member there)

Finally, do a little research on your own and start asking questions
here. There probably aren't very many books on this subject because much
of the information would be out of date at the time of publication.
You'll find better information on the web and in newsgroups such as this
