Married on 18th Sept...some advice needed?
Are you left to your own devices where filing for AOS is concerned?
We expected to be sent the forms for filing after I entered the country, but it seems that you have to download them yourself off the website?
We are worried that we miss something out whilst filing. I know that there are complete packages to download off the website...is that package all you need? We would appreciate any advice.
We had a lovely little wedding, in a small chapel in Jacksonville, Florida.
Thanks,
Erica & Charles

You don't have to d/l them if you don't want to. You can order them to be mailed to you through the USCIS website. It is a simple process. Also there is the guidelines of forms to be completed on the visajourney site which houses this forum's FAQ.
The FAQ also has a section to help you complete the forms.
You will need forms:
I-485, I-765, I-864, I-131, G-325A
Also you will mail or if lucky enough to be able to go in person, file at your local district office.
FYI, the USCIS does not just send out forms to people without having received a request first. They have no way of knowing that even if you entered with a K-1 that you will marry and will stay to adjust status. Like most things, the onus is on the petitioner and/or beneficiary to obtain whatever forms and/or information they require for their processing.
The lovely people here will be happy to lend a hand with any questions you have along the way.

Check the uscis.gov website for info as well. Here are a couple of pages
from their FAQ on adjustment of status:
http://uscis.gov/graphics/howdoi/legpermres.htm
http://uscis.gov/graphics/howdoi/LPRApplication.htm
Also go to this page and find your local office:
http://uscis.gov/graphics/fieldoffic...ices/index.htm
And then read the "Local Filing Procedures"

Also have a look on www.visajourney.com
They have a good FAQ and lots of people in the same situation.

Do you think that the answers are "better" at VJ? You refer people there a lot. The FAQ (which was developed from this NG) does reside there (hey, credit where credit's due, eh?) and there is a link at the top of the BE 1st page directing people to it.
Just a thought: the person who hosts this discussion board (which feeds us this NewsGroup) may not appreciate sending traffic elsewhere on a regular basis.
Just a friendly inquiry

I have actually mentioned BritishExpat on VJ, I do not see them as competitors. A lot of posters here come from Usernet and might not be aware. You get a different slant on both.
