Currently I am training to be a nurse in England for at least 3 years. My husband and daughter both have American citizenship (daughter is a duel citizen) but I however do not as I am brittish. What I am wondering is (as we have a daughter) would it be better for me to apply for a work visa first after I qualify?
I want to minimize the amount of time that my daughter and husband have to spend apart as my daughter would naturally stay with me if my husband. I could then after arriving start the ball rolling on the Spousal visa and could use my income instead of needing a cosponsor as my Father in Law is now retired and I believe his income does not count and my husband would be starting college on arrival to the USA. So he would have to establish an income before being eligable to sponsor me.
I believe that this might be a route I would be willing to try if it would minimize time spent apart. I am not too keen on breaking up the family for 18 months if you know what I mean? 18 months is a long time for a small child.
Any surgestions?

Why would you have to break the family up? If you are married to a US citizen and are both living in the UK, you can get everything sorted out before you go. You also can't apply for a work visa, a company has to do that for you.

of course in 3 years they maybe .. but they usually want people
with years of experience.. and you also have to get a state licence first as well....
I think the work visa idea is a non starter..

Hubby might be in the UK illegally - see her earlier posts. She needs a lawyer.

Ayrria,
Has your husband fixed his status in the UK yet? What is his status there now? If he has a permanent status there, and he's lived there more than 6 months (which it sounds like he has), you might qualify to do DCF and the whole family can move to the USA in about 5 or 6 months.
If he is still out of status there, the only way I can see it happening is that he moves back to the USA first, finds a joint sponsor, and then you go for an Immigrant Visa. You don't have to be separated for 18 months...currently through London, Immigrant Visas are taking only around 8 to 10 months.
I don't think waiting to come to the USA as a nurse first will be helpful, there is a huge backlog (from what I understand), and isn't going to happen for you anytime soon.
