How did you go about getting police clearances? Does the beneficiary have to travel in person to a previous place of residence to pick up police clearance?

First of all , what type of visa did u applied for ? U need to get police clearances if u have lived in other country for over 6 months after u turned 16 years old but u can just contact their respective consulate or embassy in Manila to request police clearnce . SOme countries are not required by the us embassy so u have to do research on this.
Hope this helps

The one from the Philippines comes from the NBI.
http://www.nbi.doj.gov.ph/faqs.html
For any place else it is going to depend on the country. I remember a
guy having one hell of a time in getting one from Panama for his fiancé,
but did finally get it. If the country has an embassy in the
Philippines it should be a lot easier to obtain. If it doesn't I would
contact the U.S. embassy in the country, since people applying for visas
their would need to have one.
The State Department Website also has info on obtaining them at:

You might want to look this over too:

Do you know about the CFO class requirement?

Elvis,
I can probably help you as I we went through a K1 in Manila. First though, slow down a bit and afford us some detail, as I am sure that it is detail that you want from us... People might assume that you are one of the various manifestations of SeaDave or something....
I assume that what you are asking is how long the service center takes to get packet to National Visa Center and then from the NVC to the Manila Consulate? Take a look at my timeline and you will see that it is only about a week or two. The NVC, "In my case" sent the packet to Manila via their DHL carrier. I was given a DHL tracking number, but was told that it is not commonly given out.
There is no longer a packet three or four. It is now one packet, usually called a, "K-packet". The manila envelope acutally reads, "K-Packet right on the front". They stopped sending packet fours about a year ago, (One of the many changes that took place during my endevour) and just include the docs, appointment letter, St. Lukes info and directions all in one envelope. ALL forms are listed on the qwe website that one of the other posters put here. All the DS forms can be downloaded and filled out online via the BCIS website, as the I-134 affidavite of support.
Not sure on police clearance issue, but I don't think she has to travel all over the place. Better check with one of the consulars at the embassy. In my opinion, the date the they issue her for her interview is the key in determining how long it will take. If she is over 25 then plan on about 6 weeks after the interview date for the CENOMAR check. What is your timeline, Dave?
