London visa issued!
Just got back from the London Embassy. Got my spouse-based immigrant visa issued!!!!
Stayed at the Hart House Hotel (harthouse.co.uk) for 85 GBP (a special price on the
day). All the descriptions from previous applicants were spot on; no need for me to
rehearse it again--went like clockwork. Thanks to all who helped me get through this!
Saturday 11th May **Requested Police Certificate.
Monday 13th May **Sent in I-130 by first-class mail.
Tuesday 14th May **I-130 arrives at US consulate; sent in OF 230-I and I-169
checklist.
Tuesday 21st May **£91.80 debited from credit card by US Embassy (indicating
reception of my I-
130).
Saturday 15th June **Received my police certificate.
Tuesday 9th July **Telephoned Visa line and discovered that I allocated a case number
provisionally.
Thursday 17th July **I-130 approval received (granted on 11th). Slightly longer than
previous timelines, I think.
Saturday 18th July **Appointment date (26th July) received from Visa section! (I had
given them a departure date of 1 August; as everyone knows from my previous postings,
I thought there was no chance that I would get it before the end of August. Pretty
impressive stufff from the Visa Section in London!)
Friday 26th July **Visa issued!!! An all-round pleasant experience.
