Firstly I'd like to apologise to everyone for keeping them on ice for
the last 24 hours. I posted a reply but it would not send, server
problems then genius me wiped all my mail data - oppsy.
Anyway...
Secondly can I thank everyone who was in London yesterday for the
interviews and medical for making it feel special and joking around
during the long (although not as long as I thought) wait.
I had a really nice long reply but lost it so heres the shorter
version.
Bus at 3am to London, arrived at 6am.
Subway to Marble Arch and a short walk to the Doctors and got there at
7am, freezing cold but had the book. The streetlamp went so had to
just sing to myself for about 10 minutes before the first lambs to the
slaughter arrived.
From then on it got enjoyable. Talking, chatting and laughing with
all the other people. By the way if your reading this and was there
on the 8th then I was the guy on the step to the doctors who went in
first. Just incase you were wondering (Lee)
Doctor said I was a little overweight and that I needed my TD and MMR
jab by AOS but aside from that it went absolutely fine.
Took about 3-4 hours in the doctors office but nothing major, all the
group made it go quicker.
Off to the embassy and fighting through the crowds. Got to the
embassy to find most if not all the others queued up with the
non'immigrants. So jumped the queue and got in fine. Advise though
to people going soon....
When you go in go to the right to the 'Immigrant' Section and not to
the left like I was diverted. No queues on the right, long ones to
the left.
Waited for goodness knows how long but chatted and giggled. I was
surprised as the interview was basically standing at a booth, not in a
table with bright lights in your eyes.
About 10 minutes of interview, 2 minutes of which was talking about
how we met, if I'd met her parents and what she did and I did etc etc.
The rest of the time was talking about which is better, the new Star
Wars or the old <lol>But he said I got the visa no problem - I don't
know anyone who didn't that day.
As Lee said de to the Rugby team parade the results were late so went
to Hyde Park for a bacon sandwich. Came back about 1pm and they had
already arrived so got told what to do and off I went merry as can be.
Congrats once again to all who were there and thanks for making it a
great day - not as bad and worrying as you think it is, trust me.
GOT THE VISA!!!!!
I hopefully leave end of this month, just gotta sort out a few things
before.
Regards to all and thanks to everyone for the words of support and
encouragement along the way.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYBODY!!!

Congratulations Tony.. Can't believe the visa's were available at 1pm, I was originally told 2.30pm, so didn't want to chance missing the train home, wish I had had gone back now.
All being well should have mine in the post tomorrow, not finding out the medical result certainly put me on edge, but no news is good news.
Good luck on your new life in the states.

Well there was a chopper following me from the Embassy to Hyde Park -
I swear, freaky as hell.
Then followed me back, anyway...
I was gonna go back in the warm and just read my book for the hour or
so, but no they were there and waiting, fantastic.
Anyway this computer is up for sale and my room now is bed, drawers,
closet and an open suitcase ready to go. and a pile of presents for
the faily at Xmas. 27th is on its way![Smile](https://britishexpats.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Many congrats Tony and thanks for the info!
As a fellow K1'er going through London, it was great to hear your story, it brought back good memories of my day at the docs and the Embassy. I too arrived early but this was summer so it was light. Met a really nice couple and also Steffi (also really nice!) who now posts here too, they all made the day really enjoyable and nowhere near as bad as I had imagined![Smile](https://britishexpats.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Enjoy your last few weeks on English turf and have a safe trip to the USA.
Happy Holidays

Funny thing was Steffi that the lady at Dr Phelan's was SO nice, and my blood test didn't hurt a bit. Then we had to have the pre-marital blood work carried out here to get our licence and there was me saying to hubby, "don't worry, it won't hurt - I've just had one done so I should know". I am very squeamish and they let us stay in the room together - not a good thing! Hubby went first. Even though I didn't look, he was saying that it hurt a lot - I didn't quite believe him, you know how men are
![Wink](https://britishexpats.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Then I was next and WOW, was I in for a shock! I think she took the blood with a fork - OUCH

Hmm, our day was not like that as far as I know.
But hey - it does ease the nervousness to know everyone is else is pretty
much in the same boat as you.
By the way - got on the net today and my credit card fell out of my wallet
and I accidently bought my flight. 9th January but hey, it was the only
seat I could find even close to the New Year - only £240 one way
.
If ya under 26 go to www.statravel.co.uk and they have cheap one ways,
amazingly cheaper then returns too.
Happy Holidays everybody
